The Great Depression 1929-1941

The Great Depression was one of the greatest challenges Americans have ever faced.    By 1932, one of every four American workers was unemployed and those who kept their jobs took deep cuts in pay.    A department store clerk earned five dollars a week.

You will hear discussed the causes of this watershed event in the Nation's history, how people coped with hardship, as well as the impact of the many federal programs which still affect our lives today.
